From The Chef
My passion for food and especially sweet things came at a very early age. My father would bring treats home at lunch time from the bakers and we were always given pocket money for penny sweets. I have fond memories of biting into a chocolate éclair or apple turnover.
As a child I would often attempt various recipes and delight in eating and sharing whatever I had made. I was fortunate enough in my early teens to be given the role of preparing dinner for my family. This gave me a head start into baking when I became a mother myself.
Although spending a lifetime cooking for my family and friends, my real passion for baking started around 2008 when a friend told me “you really ought to sell your cakes, they’re amazing”, so I decided to create my business and call it “For the love of it”. The name would always remind me of why I do it. All my food is prepared with love, care and attention. Never rushed.
Since I am a vegetarian, my catering is all vegetarian and vegan. My three children are also vegetarian. My husband is a vegan and my eldest daughter is gluten intolerant. I therefore have an aptitude for speciality catering which began at home many years ago.
Our family run a small World Music Festival called Humdrum which I have catered for since 2013, preparing a range of delicious home cooked foods and huge variety of cakes, of which my vegan chocolate cake has become rightly famous!
